I have ADHD , and you could see when a child has ADHD/ADD . I was really hyper, so in south America they let my ass run around the street and there I lost my energy and came back, with usually some trouble.

Anyway there are people with serious ADHD and some with moderate .

a percentage of adults who had ADHD as child still have it, but some now have ADD.

now I can’t take amphetamine because I have epilepsy, and it provokes the seizures , so what I do is find food that increases my dopamine level, or get tyrosine pills which is what help create dopamine.

I believe doctors are too quick to medicate, and that includes adults as well as kids. In many cases, simple physical exercise and dealing with underlying issues is all that's needed, rather than Ritalin and Prozac.

Many parents simply don’t want the hassle of trying to discipline a child and would rather stuff them full of drugs to "fix" the problem. And also, it’s a whole lot easier to explain away a kid’s bad behavior by saying "He has ADD" rather than "I’m a bad parent."

Some do have ADD and medication can sometimes help, but I would guess a good 75+% that are on medication don’t have ADD but simply need some discipline and consequences for their actions.

And a good percentage of those that do have ADD can be helped with structure, exercise, and occasionally, a change in diet. But again, that would require effort on the part of the parent and it’s so much easier to just give them Ritalin!

I couldn't agree more Scott! ADHD is a condition that the Pharmaceutical Co's came up with to make millions of dollars. That is what they do! They have most people thinking they have something wrong with them by running their slick ad's in newspapers, magazines and TV so they will buy their $200 a month drugs. Two good examples are ADHD medicine and Anti-Depressants.

i think it needs to stop right now. kids are supposed to be hyper. thats a fact of life. i used to have perfect vision. then when i was in fifth grade, i was put on aderol against my will. unfortunately, one of the side effects my moron father never bothered to ask about was that it may deteriorate vision. guess who wears glasses now? was it really worth it, dad?

Too many kids are getting labeled ADHD these days. But keep in mind that some children actually need the medicine. It's not there for a parent's convenience, but to help someone who truly has ADHD feel comfortable in their own skin, and enable them to slow down enough to actually learn at school. Some children have minds that go so fast that they cannot focus on anything for more than a few seconds and that puts them way behind their peers in learning and sets them apart where they think they are stupid and other kids make fun of them. In these cases it is better to treat them with medication than to let them suffer from never being able to fit in.

What do you think of parents that force feed there kids medication for add or adhd?
I do not believe kids should take this kind of medication at such a early age! What ever happened to a good old fashion ass woopin for acting up and praising them for acting good! Do you think most parents are just to lazy or do they just not know how to raise a hyper kid? Parents stop spoiling your kids!
