They do this because most of these machines are made in China for very little cost, and their profit margins on these machines are huge. One of our current customers (before buying machines from us) bought about 26 of these machines new for $86000. Within two months of buying these machines, my customer had many problems with the bill validators. He said the validators would not even stack the bills, they would just drop into a box. He asked the manufacturer who had offered him a five year warranty when he bought them, thinking that the entire machine was covered. The manufacturer told him that the warranty only covered defective workmanship and that the validators were normal wear and tear items and were not covered. This customer ended up buying commercial grade validators from us and having an outside serviceman install them at a cost of over $10000 to make these units serviceable. After about one year our customer has sold all of these machines to new vendors. He has taken a substantial loss, and has replaced them all with full size commercial grade vending machines that he has bought from us.
