Before I swim, I always drink an energy shot which contains a lot of Taurine (which enables you to do more without feeling muscle pain & etc, to surpass yourself).
I swim once a week and i take this like 1 hour before swimming. Could it become addictive or bad for my health? Is it better to not use an energy drink although I can surpass my limits with it and it gives me energy when i’m really tired from my week?
Thanks!

If you swam everyday and did that, it would be bad for your health, once a week is not as bad, but it probably isn’t to good either. It could very well possibly become addictive and you don’t need to take an energy shot unless you plan on swimming for 5hrs+

I would say that taking an energy shot before practicing is not a good idea. The point of practicing swimming is so that you can break down your muscles and rebuild them leaner and stronger. The only time that you should drink an energy shot is probably before a competition (if its legal), but not before practice or it defeats the purpose.

There are no studies that show taurine (an amino acid and amino acids are the building blocks of proteins) absolutely improves athletic performance. Taurine, in energy drinks, is in combination with caffeine. There ARE NO studies that show caffeine improves athletic performance. Caffeine DOES improve awareness.
Caffeine has some serious side effects and those include heart problems, jitters and insomnia. The drinks include both substances.
There are ‘legal’ athletic limits to the amount of caffeine you may have in your blood.
