What the Bible and Quran Said About the Birds?

The issues concerning the Birds in the Bible are:1) The Birds are Detestable and intolerable, 2) The Purification of man is achieved by the Birds’ blood, 3) Sparrow and swallow are symbols of the curse, 4) A new method for Education is to ask the birds, 5) Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom” because the birds are spying out on you, and 6) The Birds have four legs, a statement that contradicts with the science.

The issues concerning the Birds in the Quran are: 1)What are the Birds, 2)The Birds and the Famous Prophets (Abraham, Joseph, David, Solomon and the Lord Jesus), 3) The Birds beat a Christian Army, 4) The Birds and the unbelievers and 5)The Birds and the believers in the afterlife.

Upon reading the Birds in Bible versus Quran, the smart just reader can easily answer this dogmatic question:” Is the Quran quoted or borrowed from the Bible?”

Before dealing with the topic of the Birds in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is essential to remember that the total words of the Bible are 788,280 while total words of the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times the Quran to talk about the Birds word-wise.

The Birds mentioned 129 times in the Bible and 17 times in the Quran.

The Birds in the Bible:

The Detestable and intolerable Birds

Leviticus 11

13 ” ‘These are the birds you are to detest and not eat because they are detestable: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture, 14 the red kite, any kind of black kite, 15 any kind of raven, 16 the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk, 17 the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, 18 the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey, 19 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

21 There are, however, some winged creatures that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground.

22 Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.

23 But all other winged creatures that have four legs you are to detest.

24 ” ‘You will make yourselves unclean by these; whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean till evening.

25 Whoever picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes, and he will be unclean till evening.

Clean and unclean Birds:

Leviticus 11:46

” ‘These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves in the water and every creature that moves about on the ground.

47 You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.’ “

Leviticus 20:25

” ‘You must therefore make a distinction between clean and unclean animals and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defile yourselves by any animal or bird or anything that moves along the ground—those which I have set apart as unclean for you.

The Purification of man is achieved by the Birds’ blood.

Leviticus 14:5

Then the priest shall order that one of the birds be killed over fresh water in a clay pot.

Leviticus 14:52

He shall purify the house with the bird’s blood, the fresh water, the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop and the scarlet yarn.

Sparrow and swallow are symbols of the curse

Proverbs 26

1 Like snow in summer or rain in harvest,

honor is not fitting for a fool.

2 Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,

an undeserved curse does not come to rest.

A new method for Education is to ask the birds.

Job 12:7

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;

Freedom of speech is “Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom”

Why? Because the birds are spying out on you…

What if the king or the rich is evil? Can not we criticize them?

Ecclesiastes 10:20

Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird of the air may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say.

Why the God love is going to do that?

Deuteronomy 28:26

Your carcasses will be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

Jeremiah 15:3

“I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the LORD, “the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.

Jeremiah 7:33

Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

Zephaniah 1:3

“I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. The wicked will have only heaps of rubble when I cut off man from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.

Birds with four legs:

This statement is mentioned in Leviticus 11:20

Herein, I will give you the different translations of this verse:

New International Version

“All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you.”

King James Version

“All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.”

New American Standard Bible

“All the winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you.”

Darby Translation

“Every winged crawling thing that goeth upon all four shall be an abomination unto you.”

The translation of my Arabic bible is:

“All the birds that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you”.

Can any one show me where in the earth we can find a single bird with four legs. The Bible says there are winged creatures (birds or insects) that go around on all fours. There are no birds that go around on four legs, and all insects have six legs.

This verse contradicts with the sciences.

The Birds in the Quran

Birds are mentioned 17 times in the Quran

The issues concerning the Birds in the Quran are:

1) What are the Birds

2) The Birds and the Famous Prophets (Abraham, Joseph, David, Solomon and the Lord Jesus)

3) The Birds beat a Christian Army

4) The Birds and the unbelievers

5) The Birds in the afterlife.

What are the Birds?

Surah 6:38

“There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have We omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end.”

Surah 16:79

“Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are Signs for those who believe.”

Surah 24:41

“Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.”

Surah 67:19

“Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: truly it is He that watches over all things.”

These verses define the Birds and give the following statements:

- The Birds are communities like mankind.

- The flying birds of the air with wings outspreads are among the signs of Allah, The Almighty Creator

- The birds spreading their wings and folding them in are among the signs of Allah, The Almighty Creator.

- It should be emphasized that the Quran never said that there is a detestable bird(s).

Abraham and the Birds:

Surah 2:260

“Behold! Ibrahim said: “My Lord! Show me how Thou givest life to the dead.” He said: “Dost thou not then believe?” He said: “Yea! but to satisfy my own understanding.” He said: “Take four birds; tame them to turn to thee; put a portion of them on every hill, and call to them; they will come to thee, (flying) with speed. Then know that Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.”

In this verse, Allah showed Abraham how to give life to the DEAD. This meaning is not found in the Bible.

Joseph (The Son of Jacob) and the Birds:

Surah 12:36

Now with him there came into the prison two young men. Said one of them: “I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine.” Said the other: “I see myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating thereof.” “Tell us” (they said) “the truth and meaning thereof: for we see thou art one that doth good (to all).”

Surah 12:41

“O my two companions of the prison! as to one of you, he will pour out the wine for his lord to drink: as for the other, he will hang from the cross, and the birds will eat from off his head. (So) hath been decreed that matter whereof ye twain do enquire.”

These are the dreams that have been seen by the two companions of the prison while Joseph was in jail. Joseph interpreted the dreams and told them that one of the two will be freed up to go back to be with the king and the other will hang from the cross, and the birds will eat from off his head.

A similar story is found in the Bible in Genesis 40:19

King David and the Birds:

Surah 34:10

We bestowed Grace aforetime on David from Ourselves: “O ye Mountains! sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! and ye birds (also)! and We made the iron soft for him;

38:19

And the birds gathered (in assemblies): all with him did turn (to Allah).

The mountains and the Birds were singing back the Praises of Allah with David.

This implication is not found in the Bible.

King Solomon and the Birds:

Surah 21:79

To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things).

Surah 27:16

And Solomon was David’s heir. He said: “O ye people! we have been taught the speech of birds and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)”

Surah 27:17

And before Solomon were marshaled his hosts, of Jinns and men and birds, and they were all kept in order and ranks.

Surah 27:20

And he took a muster of the Birds; and he said: “Why is it I see not the Hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees?

These verses indicate that:

- Allah made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David.

- Allah taught Solomon the speech of birds, and bestowed him of all things and his kingdom on the earth has no similar.

- Solomon had an interesting story with the Hoopoe

(Read my article about the Hoopoe in Bible and Quran).

All of these connotations are not found in the Bible.

The Lord Jesus and the Birds:

Surah 3:49

“And (appoint him) a Messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): “I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave: and I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah’s leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe;”

Surah 5:110

“Then will Allah say: “O ‘Jesus the son of Mary! recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel. And behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it, and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the Clear Signs, and the Unbelievers among them said: `This is nothing but evident magic”.

These two verses designate to two important miracles of the Lord Jesus that Allah gave him and both are not mentioned in the Bible.

The first is that he used to make out of clay the figure of a bird and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave

The second is that he talked to the Israelites while he was about one week old.

The Birds beat a Christian Army

Surah 105:1-5

[1] Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?

[2] Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?

[3] And He sent against them flights of Birds,

[4] Striking them with stones of baked clay.

[5] Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.

At the year of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad, a strong Ethiopian Army went towards Makkah (the city of birth of Mohammad) in order to destroy the Holy Home of ALLAH (the place of pilgrim). The Arabs had no power to fight against that very big and strong army. The Arabs left Makka alone. Allah sent flights of Birds and defended His Holy House. Hundreds of birds which had never been seen before flew towards Makkah. Each bird had 3 little stones. These Birds beat the Ethiopian Army.

That year is called the year of “Elephant” because the Army brought a dozen of elephants in order to destroy the Holy House of Allah.

This story emphasizes the unlimited power of Allah Who can beat any big army with birds or microbes or viruses etc.

Of course, this story is not present in the Bible.

The Birds and the unbelievers

Surah 22:31

“Being true in faith to Allah, and never assigning partners to Him: if anyone assigns partners to Allah, he is as if he had fallen from heaven and been snatched up by birds, or the wind had swooped (like a bird on its prey) and thrown him into a far-distant place.

This is a parable of the unbeliever illustrating his loss.”

The Birds and the believers

The Birds in the afterlife

56:21

“And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.”

The believers in the Paradise will eat delicious flesh of fowls; cooked, presented and served according to their desire.

Now, I will let the smart fair reader to answer the dogmatic question:

Is the Quran quoted or borrowed from the Bible?

Essential Nutritional Foods are a Key to Effective Dieting

A healthy diet plan helps reduce the risk of disease and boosts recovery. It helps in maintaining a healthy metabolism, so food is converted into energy as efficiently as possible. This is the reason why healthy bodies tend to lose weight faster. Healthy eating is especially important in mid-life and later life. In addition, a healthy diet maintains a healthy digestive system which helps us enjoy a wide variety of foods as well as reduces the risk of indigestion and other gastrointestinal complaints.

There is no single healthy diet, meaning there is no set percentage of fats, carbs and proteins. That said, the healthiest diet includes foods from all the main food groups. In general, the healthiest:

  • Fats are unrefined vegetable oils
  • Proteins include fish, lean beef and chicken, beans and soy foods
  • Carbohydrates include vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans
  • Dietary fiber, both soluble and insoluble, comes from beans, apples, oats, fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Dos and Don’ts while dieting

Too often, diets focus on denial, banning “unhealthy” foods and restricting food choices. Limiting food choices and severely under fueling one’s body can trigger binge eating, defeating all weight loss goals. So the best attitude would be to keep an open mind on the “Don’ts” but concentrate on adopting and inculcating the “Do” philosophy with complete passion and enthusiasm.

Processed foods must be eaten in moderation because they have a lot of “empty” calories. The result is that you will end up eating a lot more calories than you are supposed to. In addition, most of the processed foods are flavored which means your body will crave for that food even if you are full.

One should try to eat foods that are natural and low in sugar, saturated fat or trans fats which most people who are unaware of weight loss and obesity facts tend to indulge in. Foods that speed up the metabolic rate and that actually help in weight loss are:

  • High Fiber Vegetables, fruits, nuts and whole grain foods – This helps the body use more calories digesting them than there are calories in these vegetables.
  • Non-Farmed Fish – It is high in Omega-3 and proteins. Farmed fish do not have as much Omega-3.
  • Berries – These are good for weight loss because they are low in calories but high in fiber and nutrition. If you crave sweets, then Berries are an excellent substitute.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – This increases the testosterone level which indirectly speeds up the metabolic rate.
  • Egg Whites – High in slow digesting protein known as casein, protein feeds the muscles and muscles burn fat.
  • Water – It prevents you from feeling empty and hungry. Also, remember that cold water helps you burn more calories. This is because the body will have to spend energy to bring the water up to the normal body temperature.
  • Skin less chicken and lean meat.

You should avoid:

  • Refined foods such as white bread, white rice etc.
  • Ready made meals and junk foods
  • Foods containing preservatives or coloring
  • Chocolates, cakes, biscuits, ice creams etc.
  • Sauces that are high in calories
  • Alcohol, especially Beer as it has a lot of empty calories

Some information on high calorie, protein and vitamin food

Calories are needed to provide energy so that the body can function properly. The number of calories in a food depends on the amount of energy the food provides. The number of calories a person needs depends on age, height, weight, gender, and activity level. People who consume more calories than they burn off in normal daily activity or during exercise are more likely to be overweight.

High Calorie foods include:

  • Cornflakes
  • Pasta
  • Breakfast wafers
  • Potatoes
  • Bread
  • Raisins
  • Rice

Proteins should account for 10-20% of the calories consumed each day. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are found in a variety of foods.

Proteins are essential for the:

  • Structure of the red blood cells
  • Proper functioning of antibodies resisting infection
  • Regulation of enzymes and hormones
  • Growth
  • Repair of body tissue

Protein containing foods include:

  • Meat, milk, cheese, and eggs (complete protein foods with essential amino acids)
  • Whole grains, rice, corn, beans, legumes, oatmeal, and peas
  • Peanut butter

Vitamins are required for the regulation of the body’s metabolic functions, and are found naturally in the foods we eat. Many foods are fortified in order to provide additional nutrients. Vitamins come in two varieties: fat soluble and water-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins can be stored in the body for long periods of time, while excess amounts of water-soluble vitamins are excreted in the urine.

Vitamin containing foods include:

  • Cheese
  • Roast beef
  • Mozzarella
  • Tuna fish, sardines
  • Peanuts
  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Margarine and butter

Importance of eating high fiber (roughage) food

Fiber is an integral part of the eating right puzzle. Eating foods that are rich in fiber is essential to the health of your digestive tract. Fiber works in several ways to aid with the removal of waste from the body. Fiber also works to soften stools and with constipation being a concern for many people, this is very important.

There are many foods that are naturally high in fiber and incorporating these into your diet is a good idea. Whole grains are rich in fiber. These should be consumed each day to increase your daily fiber intake.

Another group of foods that are good sources of fiber are fruits and vegetables. Berries are especially rich in fiber. This includes raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. Pears and apples with their skins left on can also add to your daily fiber intake.

If you prefer to add dry fruits to your diet than you’ll want to look at items such as dried apricots and raisins. Sprinkling these in a salad or eating them as a snack is beneficial and contributes to your fiber intake.

Vegetables can also be full of fiber. Many types of beans can add a substantial amount of fiber to your diet. Broccoli, green peas and spinach all contain fiber too. Eating one or two servings of these vegetables each day helps you ensure that you are getting the fiber that your body needs.

Another way that some people add to their fiber intake is through fiber rich drinks that are available easily. Fiber is important to your diet regardless of your age. Choose fiber rich foods that you enjoy and you will automatically reap the benefits of a fiber rich diet.

Protection Against Digestive Cancer

There are numerous types of cancer that affect different areas of our digestive systems. Two of the most life threatening are cancers of the biliary tract and gall bladder tumors. Tumors and cancers in this part of the digestive system are rare, with only about 7500 diagnosed each year, but are more often fatal than many other forms of digestive system cancer.

Gall bladder cancer occurs more frequently in women than men, and your likelihood of contracting it increases as you age. Hispanics are more likely to get gall bladder cancer than any other population. It is not usually diagnosed until it is far advanced, which is why the prognosis is usually poor.

We don’t fully understand the cause of gall bladder cancer, but we do know that people who suffer from gall stones are more likely to develop it later on. This appears to be because the gall stones cause chronic inflammation in the gall bladder, which can lead to the development of abnormal cells.

Other biliary tract cancers are diagnosed in about 2000-3000 Americans each year. Like gall bladder cancer, it is often not diagnosed until it has reached late stages and often metastasized.

Again, the cause is not fully known, but, as with other digestive system cancers, it occurs more frequently in the obese. It also occurs more frequently in Hispanics, American Indians, Eastern Europeans and Japanese.

In recent years, there has been a fair amount of research on the cancer preventative effects of drinking green tea. It appears that green tea has the power to prevent many forms of cancer, including those of the digestive system, like gall bladder cancer and biliary tract cancer.

A study conducted in China attempted to establish a link between consumption of green tea and the prevention of these cancers.

The study looked at a large segment of the population. It included 627 patients with various forms of biliary tract cancer (including gall bladder cancer), 1037 cases with biliary stones, and 959 randomly selected control participants.

This study concluded that the women who were regular tea drinkers had (meaning that they drank at least one cup of green tea a day for at least six months) a significantly lower risk of biliary tract cancer and gallbladder cancer – even if they had gall bladder disease – than those who did not drink green tea.*

For men, the study found a slightly lower risk of cancer among the green tea drinkers; however it was not enough to be considered significant.

In addition, it was found that a higher than average number of the male participants in the study were smokers, so this may have skewed the results, since smoking increases a person’s overall risk of cancer.

Why Green Tea?

Many of us may be surprised to find that green tea is so healthy. The reason is that it’s loaded with anti-oxidants in their natural state. Black tea also contains anti-oxidants, but during the fermentation process that black tea undergoes, these anti-oxidants change, and become less healthy than in their original state.

The anti-oxidants in tea are called catechins, part of the flavan-3-ol class of flavonoids. EGCG is one of the catechins contained in tea, and is one of the most potent anti-oxidants around. Because green tea hasn’t been fermented, the EGCG is in its most natural and potent state.

Anti-oxidants are so important because they combat the free radicals in our bodies. Free radicals are damaging oxygen molecules that occur as a result of our body’s process of converting food to energy. If they are left unchecked, they cause cell and DNA damage, which eventually leads to aging and disease.

So, to protect our health, it’s important to get anti-oxidants in our diet every day. Fruits and vegetables are good sources, as is coffee, black tea and dark chocolate. But, green tea is one of the very best sources. A diet rich in anti-oxidants can help prevent cancer, heart attack and stroke, as well as general premature aging.

The research regarding cancer is significant. In addition to the study mentioned above regarding digestive cancers, there have been numerous other studies suggesting that green tea can protect against many forms of cancer. In fact, Japan’s medical community now considers green tea to be a known cancer preventative.

This news is, of course, quite exciting, but it goes even further. There have also been studies that suggest that green tea may be helpful in treating cancer, too. Several studies have shown that when green tea was used as an adjunct therapy along with traditional chemotherapy, the chemotherapy was more successful.

Cancerous cells showed a higher concentration of the cancer drugs when green tea was administered along with the medication.

Some studies have even suggested that green tea may be beneficial in preventing the spread of cancer. It appears that the growth of cancer cells slows significantly or even stops when patients of certain cancers are given green tea in significant quantities.

Of course, green tea is not a magic bullet, and is not designed to replace traditional cancer treatments. However, it certainly appears that green tea is an important tool for protecting your body against many types of cancer and other illnesses, and may even be an effective adjunct treatment for those who already have cancer.

So, add some green tea to your diet. It’s delicious and you have nothing to lose. There are no side effects and green tea is well tolerated even by the caffeine sensitive. Drinking green tea may be the simplest thing you can do to protect your health.

The Complete Person: Starting With the Basics

We’ve all heard about coaches pounding away at what they refer to as “the fundamentals.” In other words, the basic skills and techniques of their sport. So for our purposes, what are the basics? For me, the basics components of The Complete Person fall into four easily comprehendible groups: Mind, Body, Spirit and Heart. To ignore any one is to limit options, possibilities and, ultimately, total success in reaching the higher level of living and being each of us strives to reach.

The Complete Person

I find analogies often get my points across much better than detailed explanations, which can create the “eyes glazed over” response. So, here goes.

Imagine you – your entire self, physical, mental, spiritual, energy field … any and every aspect of you – are a car or other sophisticated machine. We all know, on some level, that today’s vehicles are made up of multiple systems, each of which has a number of components that must function together in a tightly choreographed relationship. Without getting technical, they have to work together closely. Beyond that, each of the systems, when called on, must function correctly with the other systems in the vehicle.

It’s not much of a stretch to think of us in the same way. Each of our major components must be “tuned up” in order to perform at its peak. Only then can we experience our entire “machine” reaching its highest possible level of performance.

OK, not much new here, but it’s worth mentioning as a starting point.

These are the areas I strive to excel in:

1) My focus on the four major components of the Complete Person – Mind, Body, Spirit and Heart and how they function individually and synergistically;

2) The carefully screened and selected, highly effective products, tools and free information available through this resource and;

3) My ability to guide and support you as you integrate the “tuned up” components of your Complete Person in your journey to reach higher and higher levels of personal living.

A Word About Simplicity

Have you ever had the experience of being confronted with something that, at first, seemed overwhelmingly complex or foreign only to realize later, after overcoming the learning curve, that it wasn’t really all that complicated? With hindsight, you were able to say, “I though it was more complicated than it really was. It was actually simpler than I thought.” The experience of many of our most accomplished practitioners is like that.

With our support and guidance, these successful individuals have been able to make educated decisions and choices; those that have enabled them to reach successively higher levels of personal performance and satisfaction. The “ah-ha moment” almost universally is when they realize that instead of getting more and more difficult to identify their personal next level, it actually gets easier. That’s because with increased sophistication comes clarity of mind (read that as simplicity) and of purpose. The further you go on your journey to personal development, the clearer, less cluttered your path. It’s just that … well, simple.

The Four Components of The Complete Person: Mind, Body, Spirit and Heart

At the beginning of this article, I referred to coaches drilling their players on the fundamentals, or basics, of their sport. Good coaches place a high value on the fundamentals because they are “fundamental” to each player’s success and to that of the entire team. I agree.

With that in mind, let’s briefly cover a working definition of each of our basics and how they impact the success of our practitioners.

Mind

The mind is where all the chatter exists; the chatter that includes things like self-doubt and conflicting messages. These are the killers of personal progress. They tend to paralyze us. They keep us from making decisions for fear of making a costly mistake. In truth, not making a choice or decision can be far more costly, if only in terms of our self-esteem and faith in our own judgment. My goal to help you quiet the negative chatter and open your mind to the positive, supportive messages that will energize your personal journey. We provide lots of help.

Body

Of our four basics, the body is the most obvious and easiest to comprehend. Most people start their personal journey here. That’s OK. The body is where the other basic components live. Some people, however, never move beyond the body. That’s OK, too, if that’s where they want to limit their journey. For me, personally, and for all of us at Natural Healing Tools.com, the health and well being of the body can only be maximized when proper attention is paid to the Mind, Spirit and Heart.

The list of products, tools and information to enhance the body and its functions that is available from countless sources is long, to be sure. Our resource is filled with them. The difference in what you will find here and what you find elsewhere is that every item we offer has been individually reviewed screened and hand picked for its content, intended purpose and compatibility with everything else offered here. Be advised that different products – including the ones we offer – work differently, and sometimes not at all, for different people. But know this: if we offer it, we use it or have used it. It’s our guarantee of authenticity.

Our intent in offering a wide variety of products, tools and information for the body is two-fold. First, to offer you only the best-of-category by eliminating inferior and ineffective products and misleading information. Second, to offer you reasonable choices in various categories and help you decide which will work best for you – today and tomorrow.

Spirit

This isn’t what you might be thinking. Yes, it has to do with energy, but not the kind you get from Red Bull or another energy drink. It comes from connecting with what might be called “your higher self.” No, this is not especially “touchy-feely” stuff. It is fundamentally human! We all experience the connection, or at least the need to connect, in one way or another. Humans have been doing it for all of recorded time. For some, the connection roots itself in a religious context. For others, it might be as simple as living in greater harmony with nature. But the need to take oneself to a higher level of consciousness and connect with a higher existence or power is very real. Filling the need to connect with one’s higher self gives us strength and resilience we didn’t know we had. It reveals and makes possible things never dreamed. Call it mind over matter, if that works for you. Whatever you call it, whatever it is, it works and it helps everything else work better!

Spirit, as we consider it, is a bit foreign for some. Even those who recognize and accept Spirit as part of their Complete Person can have difficulty defining it. Not to worry. We’ll ease you into the subject and help you drill down as deep into it as you decide to go.

Heart

Ah, yes, Heart. The catalyst for all parts of The Complete Person. It’s easy to over-complicate the subject of Heart, so let’s not.

Here’s another analogy: electricity. While amperage does the work, voltage provides the power that gets the work done. So it is with heart. Heart equals passion. Without passion there’s nothing but … (you fill in the blank.) Heart is the fuel that will power you to ever-higher levels of personal performance and satisfaction.

We think that like Spirit, Heart is somewhat difficult for some people to grasp. Our job, then, becomes two-fold: 1) to help you understand and internalize the essence of Heart and 2) to help you understand the central role Heart plays in enabling you to become a more Complete Person. Once you understand number one, number two will be easy.

To understand Heart, think about some decision you made half-heartedly, only to regret it later on. The decision wasn’t authentic because you didn’t make it from the Heart. Or put another way, when you do something with “all your heart and soul,” you do it without limitation. You do it with passion. That’s because you are acting from the Heart.

Like Spirit, the subject of Heart is very deep. We’ll stay with you, however deep you want to drill down.

Environment

While it’s not one of our fundamentals, I feel we must pay attention to the subject of the environment in which we work, live, love and thrive. Much has been written about the advantages and, particularly, the disadvantages of the environment – physical and emotional – that envelopes our daily lives. No need to debate or belabor it here. Just know that I take the environment that surrounds us very seriously. I am constantly looking to find products, tools and information on this to help you improve and maximize your environment.

The Complete Person includes Mind, Body, Spirit and Heart. Ignore any one and you limit your options and possible successes. Natural Healing Tools exists so that you can have ready access to a robust resource for maximizing all four components of The Complete Person, then integrate and balance them to achieve the higher level of personal living you want for yourself.

All the best to you as you begin – or extend – you journey. I’ll be anxious to learn about your successes! Email me at jurban@naturalhealingtools.com.

The Anti-Aging Law Of Compensation: You Must Apply It

The so-called civilized world we live in makes it difficult to maintain youthful attributes and stay healthy. Fast food, pollution, low and non-nutrition processed edibles eaten as food, stress, medications, lack of adequate information and our own negligence contribute to health problems and signs of premature aging.

To get around it, you can do one of two things: just let it happen or be on the offensive with compensating measures.

The obvious thing to do is to be on the offensive. But how do you do that?

Let’s talk about dehydration. Do you drink coffee or caffeine drinks such as colas or so-called energy drinks? If so, then you must compensate by drinking more water. Caffeine is dehydrating. For every can of caffeinated soda or cup of coffee – at least an equal amount of water is in order. If you don’t compensate, the dehydration shows up as gray, flaky dry skin.

Do you drink alcohol? It’s dehydrating. That’s one reason why your face looks like the wrath of God the morning after just a few drinks the night before. For every glass of wine or bottle of beer, you should consume an equal amount of water – or more. The hard stuff is even more damaging. Yes, you will be running to the potty, but you will be compensating for the dehydration and you will feel better in the morning because you have eliminated a lot of the alcohol toxicity.

Alcohol also depletes B vitamins. Some folks who like a glass of wine follow it with a B Complex capsule and a glass of water.

Overall, caffeine and alcohol are the least egregious offenders. Most folks don’t drink an excessive amount of coffee or alcohol on a daily basis.

There is something more damaging than daily caffeine and occasional alcohol. It’s what most people use a lot of on a daily basis over a long period of time: prescription medications.

Medication induced nutrient loss is responsible for more health problems that anyone realizes. The pharmaceutical companies do not mention nutrient loss in advertising, although warnings may appear in literature no one reads. And chances are that traditionally trained physicians and pharmacists aren’t educated enough about nutrition to be aware.

For example, has your physician or pharmacist ever warned you that estrogen replacement depletes magnesium? Magnesium depletion causes muscle weakness, depression, dizziness, hypertension, and heart problems. That doesn’t mean you should stop taking estrogen (if in fact you choose to replace estrogen) but you do need to make certain you are getting enough magnesium. A physician who practices integrative medicine will know enough to prescribe compensating nutrients.

Blood pressure medications such as Tenormin and Lopressor deplete CoQ10 which is absolutely vital to stabilize cellular membranes and give cells energy to function. Statin drugs that lower cholesterol deplete CoQ10 as well.

Diuretics (“water pills”) may cause magnesium, potassium, and zinc depletion. Men with prostate problems already tend to have zinc deficiency and if it is not supplemented the prostate can enlarge.

Medications such as Tagamet and Pepcid cause depletion of vitamin B12 and folic acid. A deficiency of these two vitamins causes homocysteine levels to rise. High homocysteine causes irritation of blood vessel walls. When cholesterol flows throw them, it clings to the irritated walls and then you have clogged arteries. We can’t live without cholesterol. It is vital for cell membrane integrity and hormone production among other things. But we can’t live with cholesterol when it is clogging arteries as a result of high homocysteine.

You don’t have to wait for your doctor to prescribe B12 and folic acid. You can buy B12, preferably in the form of methylcobalamin under-the-tongue tablets available over the counter. Folic acid tablets are also available without a prescription.

If you want to learn more about how prescription medications deplete nutrients, read the Drug-Induced Nutrient Depletion Handbook by Ross Pelton, James B. Lavalle and Ernest B. Hawkins.

Don’t suffer premature aging and loss of youthful attributes due to dietary indiscretion, neglect, or just not knowing. You can do a lot to help yourself. When you learn to compensate, or find a doctor who can help you avoid what you don’t need, or help with what you do need, you will stay healthier and more youthful a lot longer.

The Anti-aging Law of Compensation is too important to ignore. Educate, compensate, and take care of yourself! If you don’t, who will?
